On Wit's End, from the Baltimore City Paper.
I'd again like to note how much I *LOVE* Daniel Krall's illustrations...
-------
Two things, which I'm linking to mostly so that I'll have a reminder to finish reading them:
1) Bourdain on Top Chef
2) Matt Taibbi on puking evangelicals in Rolling Stone.

Oooh. I really want to read that Fowler book!

I got an extra chuckle from the Taibbi article when I got to the part where he was supposed to speak in tongues and started reciting the lyrics to a Russian rock song I remember fondly. Here's the video of DDT's Chto takoe osen'?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPZhRSVrIrA
Disclaimer: The lead singer, Yuri Shevchuk, belongs to the Russian male-vocalist-with-pipes-of-gravel school. But he writes good tunes and lyrics, so he's ridiculously famous over there. I once got to gawk at him from a few feet away when DDT and my friends' band, Tamburin, were leaving on the same train from St. Petersburg for a festival they were playing at in Berlin. That was in 1993, which is about when this song was popular.

Read the Fowler book. It's very good.
Tks for the info on the Taibbi song. I wondered about that. I'm thinking that Taibbi might grow into the Hunter S. of our generation. I use generation loosely mostly because I think he's younger than me but still. You get the idea.
