Short one today. We had Kindergarten Moving-Up Day and it has been a whirlwind. More on that later.
* Julie Taymor on theater and the imagination. (And if you ever just want to think/be inspired, randomly watch the TED talks clips. Gods bless the internet.)
* The Old 97's have a new album out! Great is my joy!
* What I will be this Halloween. I'll have to carry around a phone, by far my favorite of the Yip Yip oeuvre.
* Amazing how much Lucifer looks like Trout. Same look of blankness, even.
* The last sign in this post made me choke on my coffee this morning. In a good way.
* Anyone have any great arugula recipes? I'm not sure I can just eat it straight in a salad -- and it was this week's green o' plenty from the CSA.

The dude had never seen the yips. (And yes, you need the phone to complete the costume.) He likes Guy Smiley, so we just had a short YouTube-Sesame Street retrospective. Thanks!
Sorry I can't help with the arugula. Know anything about kohlrabi?

I love, love, love the Yips. I imitate them as often as possible. I was so thrilled that they were included them in the Sesame Street DVD.
Love!
I may have to throw a Halloween party this year just so me and the husband have an excuse to make these costumes.

If you want to save yourself the trouble of making the costume, you can borrow mine. Jeff and I made a pair, red and blue. We made one about five years ago but didn't get the other one done until this past Halloween.

Old post I know, but I'm catching up. My fave fast arugula dish - halve a pile of cherry toms, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper. Let sit while cooking some pasta. When pasta is cooked, serve into bowl. Put a few handfuls of arugula (preferably baby arugula, or remove the stems) in the bowl and stir till the heat and steam of the pasta has wilted the arugula. Top with tomatoes and then some freshly grated parmesan (or ricotta salata - a hard mexican cheese not regular ricotta). Et voila.
