Typepad lists and I don't seem to be getting along right now, as evidenced by the fact that it refuses to bend to my will. And, so, a new plan.
There will be signings and readings and whatnot coming up in the next couple of months. I'll keep updating this post when new info leaks in. I would love to see you and/or deface your books (any books, really, not just those written by me) if you'll be in the area. Also, if you have any can't miss stops I should make while in these areas, please tell me.
* Saturday, July 31 at 1 p.m. at Knitting Etc in Ithaca, NY.
* Friday, August 27 at TBD at Natural Stitches in Pittsburgh.
* October 8 -10 at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville, Tennessee. More TBA.
* October 16 and 17 at the Dutchess County Sheep and Wool Festival (aka Rhinbeck (w00T!)).
If more are added -- and I hope more will be because this is the fun part -- I'll update this post.

Of course it is. Backchannel me.

Just read "Sweater Quest" and I absolutely loved it!!! I am recommending it to all of my knitting friends and my sister - who loves to read but does not knit. I am a new knitter who is a little overwhelmed at knit and purl but I absolutely love it!! Reading your book psyched me up to pick a project to do when I get a whole lot better! Thanks for the very humorous look at counting rows!! I laughed out loud!! Your book is fantastic and I am going to read it again!! Thank you!

4/8 is a Thursday; should it be Friday 4/9?

Nope. It's on the Thursday. Can you make it?

I just finished your book last night and loved it. You did a great job of explaining things that a non-knitter wouldn't get...so I feel comfortable recommending it to my non-knitting friends. I had quite a few "I've been there" moments!

I spent the day finishing Sweater Quest (giving up my knitting time) and really enjoyed it. I bought it last night primarily because I randomly opened it and read your discription of yourself with ipod in the green chair-- except that my chair is purple that is me! Over and over I read passages to my husband--"it's like she's my twin or something!" I kept saying. So either there is just a few of us or many many of us out there. Either way it felt good to "meet you"! Thanks for the great afternoon.

I am thrilled that your knitting time wasn't wasted!
Thanks so much.

I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed Sweater Quest...granted I'm more of a cable fanatic..but i totally understand your route:-) I left the book with my "sister in law" (didn't actually marry her brother) in Atlanta after Stitches South.. and I know she will love it as much as I did.. she does love all those color changes I think:-)

Loved loved Sweater Quest! You seem like someone I want to share a bottle of wine with (while knitting, of course.) My question is, the picture of you in the book -- is that the Mary Tudor you're wearing??
Posted by: Carol | April 29, 2010 at 07:36 AM
That is the Mary Tudor I'm wearing in the author photo. Note that you can't see the ends of my arms.
Thanks to both of you for the kudos!

I just found your book and L O V E!!! it! Will you be in No. VA (like outside DC)? Would enjoy meeting you. From the previous post I gather the sleeves are not finished?

I loved the book! Three things stuck with me:
1. Life is a diamond
2. Knitting as a source of comfort
3. The irony that lifelong friends have knitting in common
And the rest of the book was great, too.

Have you had any invitations to drive north? Like way North? Like Ottawa ON Canada? Or do I need to start pestering my LYS?
Posted by: Ellen | July 01, 2010 at 09:26 PM
Gah! Sorry that I've let these linger without a reply. I have no brain!
Ottawa would be great if we can make it work. If your LYS is up for pestering, send 'em my way. Ditto any local yarn shop or indie bookstore where ever else you might be.
And thanks Marlene. It's always a treat to hear what parts of the book stuck with people.

I am complaining to you, Adrienne Martini, in the true English sense of the word, because, having finished your immensely enjoyable Sweater Quest, I found myself at VirtualYarns.com and ordering 2 - not 1, but 2 - kits to make Starmore sweaters. I have been knitting for over forty years, and never felt moved to subject myself to Alice's rigors -- until now! You are a shameless temptress, and I am looking forward to meeting you at Knitting Etc on July 31!

My knitting mentor recommended Sweater Quest, and I have enjoyed it immensely. I've been reading, laughing out loud, and when my husband asks why and I read a passage, I laugh again at the blank look on his face. Thank you for making me feel less lonely in my complete and total inability to cast on 173 stitches for a project successfully. It really is difficult to count to 10 sometimes.
