rat race

For most of yesterday, I had myself convinced that the drippy nose and achy head were allergies. By 5 p.m., when I couldn't find the will to get off of the couch to eat soup, I knew I was fooling myself. Lo, I am ill. Nothing major, mind, but enough that I'm doing a lot of sniffling and wheezing and sighing. More than usual, that is.

For what it's worth, I blame the pie goddess, who spent all last week ill and must be sneaking into my house to lick my coffee mugs. There is no other explanation.

We did make it to the Cauliflower Fest, which didn't live up to even my meager expectations. No pictures because I forgot to check my camera battery before leaving. It was a remarkably pretty drive, tho, and it was a lovely afternoon.

In lieu of real content, a link to a knitted scarf that simply amuses the bejeezus out of me. I'm trying to figure out who needs one for Christmas.

Perfect for riding the subway in the winter! I'll blend in.

Lo, me too... probably the same virus that got Linnea an overnight in the hospital with croup 10 days back. When did Maddy outgrow that sh*t, by the way?

I may have passed on a few germs, but I did NOT lick any of your coffee cups. Because, 1. Ewww and 2. I don't sneak around your house. Mooch is scary.

I have gerbils, so I'd be happy to accept a rat scarf as a Christmas gift. ;-)

I've been thinking for a while that Q needs a dragon scarf: http://www.morehousefarm.com/KnittingKits/Scarves/Dragon/

Maddy really only had the croup twice. It was the dang ear infections that she kept getting. She did, however, stop getting sick all that frequently once she hit 4.

Mooch is scary -- but is useful at times. I have Maddy convinced that there are no monsters in the house because Mooch scares them away.

PL - I'll keep it in mind. I wouldn't recommend holding your breath.

Q does need a dragon scarf. Shall I get you a kit at Rhinebeck? Or should we each knit half?

Oh. Well, I've lost track of how many times Linnea's had croup at this point...five or six, twice requiring hospitalization, and usually with an ear infection chaser. But generally she's pretty healthy, and we haven't had half the ear infection problems ya'll have...
