Speaking of the work, I appear to have sold a book. Say it with me: W00T!
Given that this is non-fiction, what I should say is that I appear to have sold a book proposal and a promise that I can write a book, which is due one year from today. What's odd is that I've spent the last year trying to sell a different idea entirely but it never did get good traction. This is a totally different project that I wrote the proposal for at the start of 2008. Weird how it works, eh?
And, no, I haven't said much of anything about the new project. Not online. Not in person. The Featureless Saint barely knew about it. Just didn't want to grow any hopes.
Anyway -- there are some details still to be nailed down and I'll give 'em to you when I have them if you want them. But the basic situation is - Sweater Quest: Sweater Quest: An epic yarn with two cats, two kids, one husband and a very complicated cardigan (working title) will be published by The Free Press (yes, same pub/ed for Gothic). Date TBA.
You'll note a certain similarity to a book I've talked about before. If you're going to steal an idea, steal one that sells well...
Very excited. Also horrified when I look at what I've committed myself to. Which feels about right.
W00T!
So have you chosen the pattern for the cardi?

I won't steal your idea. I don't want to write a book about knitting. But maybe I'll read it. Congratulations!

Squee! That's so exciting! It gives me hope that I may too someday actually get around to writing a book proposal, and that if I do, someone might eventually be interested in it.
