and, lo, it is finished

Fresh from the wash/dry cycle, I give you Greenway.

Also pictured is our elderly cat Trout. He'd like you to know he's very cold and very tired and that I will do nothing about either of those things because I am mean.

I didn't think I'd finish it so soon after complaining that I'd never finish it. In truth, I simply ran out of one of the yarns and took it as a sign from the universe that it was time to be done with this now. It's plenty big enough to use as a lap blanket, which is all I wanted.

As I was crocheting it, I kept wondering why the designers hadn't switched the yellowy green and the sagey green, given their relative color values. That would be even more beautiful, I thought. Then, as I was finishing the edging and looked at the picture in the book again, I realized that they had done that. I just screwed up when I started.

Will this cause me to rip it all out and do it again? No, because while I may have some OCD tendencies, I am not completely crazy. I like it just fine like this, thanks.

The obligatory artsy shot.

I'll let you know how it holds up in a house with cats and kids and adults who spill.

I also have my next big knitting project ready to go. Alice's Aran book is involved. More on that later.

That is beautiful, I haven't been brave enough to start a huge project that, for now I am making fun projects for the kids, fancy socks for the husband.

I like it!

OH is it Irish Moss? Cos I have always wanted to knit Irish Moss.

and I was remiss in not telling you how gorgeous this lap blankie is. B'c it is amazing and I am in awe. I can't crochet to save my life. Trout will come around after you let him sleep under it. :D

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

We probably don't help you in lowering your expectations by giving you all these strokes ... but what else are we supposed to do when you post pictures of such delightful creations? If you would just make and post a lot of crap, you wouldn't have to contend with us fawning sycophants.

I like the yellow green and sagey green the way you did them! Purty, purty.

Will you write about this Alice journey too? I just finished Sweater Quest and loved it.

And the blanket looks warm and snuggly just the way it is. I think the colors are just right.

yay!

Beautiful! Just the thing when cozying up with a book and mug of tea.

Thanks for all of the kudos. The planned Alice has been cast on. More on Monday. And, no, it's not Irish Moss. Sorry.

Your Trout and my En Esch appear to have been separated at birth. If Trout has any brains, please send half; En has always had empty space between his ears.

Trout is sorely lacking in brains as well. Maybe it goes with the color?
