I suspect that my Catholic school education has given me a completely different criteria for judging educational success than other people. Is anyone forcing my child to wear green, gray, yellow, black plaid? No? Then they're OK.

Seriously, my plaid-related trauma took years to overcome.

Small boys, no matter how intelligent, are wild creatures who take their time but do grow up eventually. My son tried my patience and that of his teachers throughout elementary and middle school, but did grow up to graduate college and be self supporting.

I regularly realize that I am raising my husband. Matthew has school issues, too. And they're all the same issues Joe once had, apparently. My daily hope is that he turned out ok ....

Having just made the financially painful decision to send Solvi to a private Kindergarten (because the public school system says she's 2 days too young), I am with you on the "school is now the all consuming focus".

Well, that and when will that dang 1st wiggly tooth fall out already...it's been 2 weeks!
